ProTimer - Programming Pump Functions Made Easy

No need for external timers
- Optional feature for gamma/L and Sigma series pumps
- Ideal for time based applications and/or applications initiated by external events.
- Programmable for hourly, daily, weekly, weekdays, weekends, and bi-weekly.
- Control on/off times, pump stroke frequency, as well as external devices such as solenoid valves and mixers.
- Timer sequence can be initiated by an external event (i.e. contact closure)
- Pumps can be programmed to follow external signals (i.e. 4-20 mA or pulse) when activated.
- Program is downloadable to multiple pumps / can be emailed to colleagues.
- Up to 81 programming steps (Note: ON=1 step; OFF=1 Step….etc.)
Process Timer
In many processes metering is performed periodically or is initiated by external events. In some cases external actions must be triggered in advance or with a delay such as the powering of a mixer before chemical metering starts. Also a chemical metering system can be added to an existing process and operate as an autonomous unit.
The ProTimer (Process-Timer) was designed specifically for these tasks, which were previously only available with programmable logic controllers. The feed rate (stroke frequency) as well as the mode of operation of the pump can be adjusted or changed via the ProTimer. Additionally, both optional relays can be integrated into the program for controlling peripheral devices. These functions are entirely independent from the programmed metering times, aside from the examples listed above, monitoring tasks (e.g. alarm, if no control contact is received within a defined time period) can be performed by means of ProTimer.
Modes of Operation
Time-controlled operation of the pump can have it operate hourly, daily, on weekdays only, on weekends, weekly or bi-weekly as per your demand. In addition to starting and stopping of the pump, the operating mode can be changed and one or two of the optional relays can be controlled. Thus, for instance, it will be possible to switch on the mixer/external device before starting metering and - if required - even let it run after the pump has stopped.
The integrated timer can completely replace programmable controls that operate with conventional timers. Conventional on/off timers require a Nema rated box to protect them against the environment. This adds cost and space concerns. The ProTimer is integrated into the pump and therefore is protected by the Nema 4x rating on the gamma/L and Sigma series pumps. Beside cost-savings, the space saving is an advantage — and this all with Nema 4x!
There are almost unlimited application possibilities with ProTimer.
| Scenario |
Application |
Use ProTimer to: |
| Single Biocide Feed for Cooling Tower |
Use a single pump to slug and trim feed a biocide |
- Turn pump on at maximum frequency in the morning for preset time period
- Turn pump on again at biocide levels by setting at a lower pump stroking frequency
|
| Feed and Flush |
For chemicals that solidify or crystalize when left in the pump head. (i.e. Lime or Sodium Silicate) |
Use pump timer to feed product and then open a solenoid valve on a water line to flush pump head and piping while the pump is idle |
| On-line Water Dilution |
For processes where the product needs to be diluted before injection |
- Use the timer to open a solenoid valve on a dilution line
|
- Turn on pump to feed product
